Whatever the occasion, there's a style of pants matched to the need. Trousers, jeans, capris, sweatpants... just to name a few. Trousers for women came into fashion during the 1960's and caught on quickly.
Pant Styles
Pant Construction
Modern pants consist of different parts. The construction of these parts determine the fit and style of the pant.
The waist is the topmost part of the pants, often containing the belt loops.
The front panel is the area between the pockets and zipper, can be flat or pleated.
Leg style refers to the cut of the leg portion and determines fit. Different leg styles are flattering to different body types. Typical leg styles are: boot cut, straight, skinny, tapered, flare, and wide leg.
Pockets are sown compartments that allow you to carry things.
Cuffs are sown at the base of the leg to prevent fraying. Cuffs can be sown up to add more weight to the bottom of the pant leg.
